I am a visual artist whose main sensibility relates to the environment. The ideas for my sculptures and installations evolve primarily from materials I find in my immediate area. I usually combine this material with other shapes I fabricate, always striving to weave substance with idea to create the piece.
A few years ago, I made a transition from living in an urban setting where the hard edges of the city stimulated my use of metal and concrete as a primary medium. Upon moving to the the Mendocino coast, nature now inspires my work, and stimulates my use of natural materials such as wood, roots and pine needles to express my ideas.
It is my hope that the interaction with my work will subsequently affect those who view it by increasing their appreciation and awareness of our interconnectedness with the natural world.
