Drawing Challenge XIV

In response to the upheaval caused by the Coronavirus Jason McCoy Gallery in New York has hosted a weekly Drawing Challenge. Each week, a sentence, poem, or song lyric is proposed inviting artists to submit a unique visual response. The quotation for Drawing Challenge XIV was “I want this raw material to be my playpen…a means of doing anything I wish…to exercise every fantasy, myth, every feeling of the absurd within my grasp.”

October show “Exploring Our Fears”

"All of the work in this exhibition, juried by Brigham Dimick, embodies a sort of alchemical process, in which uncomfortable feelings are transformed into generous creative products. Through a diversity of mediums and approaches, these works display synergies between therapeutic motivations and a will to create rich experiences for the viewer. Like me, I hope that many visitors to this exhibition will take comfort in encountering these works, knowing that others are reckoning with difficult challenges in a creatively constructive manner.” (Statement from the juror)
