It is an evocative theme with positive as well as negative connotations. Laura Rose who makes her home in Albion, has a spiritual connection to the natural environment , and will be showing small and delicate images of the landscape. Janet Seifert works abstractly in acrylic and oil. Her works are spontaneous andethereal. This will be Karen Urbanek’s first exhibit on the North Coast. Her painterly images range from abstract and gestural to natural realism. In late January Karen will be working with textile artists in conjunction with Lolli Jacobsen. The landscape exhibit will open March 8, 2007 with a reception for the artists Saturday, March 10, 5-8 pm. The show will run until April 9th. PARTNERS MARKETING GRANT The Community Foundation of Mendocino County has joined with the Irvine Foundation to offer grants in the arts for economic development in the county. The gallery received one of only three grants offered and the funds for our grant are for marketing artist administered galleries. We have included Edgewater Gallery and North Coast Artists Gallery for a workshop to learn the ins and outs of successful marketing. Stay tuned to see some new marketing efforts.
PARTNERS AND GEMS PARTICIPATING IN WHALES ON PARADE “Whales on Parade” is a fundraising effort for the benefit of the Mendocino County Arts Council, Kiwanis Club, and the Chamber of Commerce. Businesses along the coast will display wooden decorated whales that can be bid on in a silent auction culminating in an assembly of the whales and final auction on March 17-18 at Eagle’s Hall in Fort Bragg. Mina Cohen created a “Blues Whale” that will be displayed at the gallery in February and March. In addition, visitors can participate by taking a trolley ride along the coast. We are on the trolley tour with Auberge Mendocino and Stevenswood. It is Sat. March 3 from noon to 4. Partners Gallery will be paired with wine tasking provided by Breggo Winery, an new winery from the Anderson Valley. Mendocino Gems will also be participating in the wine tasting as well. In addition to tasting Mendocino County's premier wines, festival attendees in Mendocino enjoy chowder tasting, Point Cabrillo Lighthouse activities, marine wildlife and museum exhibits and whale watching activities. It’s fun for the whole family and the coast is spectacularly beautiful this time of year.

These pieces combine the movement of water with stone, and are sculpted from serpentine, marble, granite, quartzite, and basalt. The sculptures bring together the natural elements of stone and water to create peaceful and healing environments for a diversity of landscapes and interiors. Cherie Christiansen and Franz Arner have their studio in Mendocino and will create custom stone and water sculptures to suit. A DVD is available to get a full picture of their work.
