In May Partners Gallery is presenting its second invitational quilt show. This exhibit
features the log cabin design and focuses on the many ways in which it can be used.
Each of the eight participants in this show takes a different perspective on this
traditional quilt pattern. You’ll see it reconstructed, saturated with color, dominated by
birds, shaped into curves, constructed into tiny houses, varied in unexpected ways,
and lost in a sea of triangles. In addition to the quilts there is hand crafted furniture
also featuring the log cabin motif.
The quilts themselves are constructed of cottons and wool, and each one is hand
quilted. The quilters approach their work in different ways and find inspiration in a
variety of sources including the colors found in nature, architecture, ideas they hold
dear, and the materials with which they work.
Some of the quilts are meant to be hung on a wall, some are meant to add warmth and beauty to a bed.
