Mina Cohen

The natural environment, my family traditions, travel experiences, and art history are some of the themes I explore in my work. Pattern and rhythm have become important elements in the structure of the work and almost any media, traditionally art related or not that I play around with could find its way into a painting.

There is often narrative content though I strive for a degree of mystery that takes the viewer on their own journey. Since I work in series, there is a great degree of research that goes into each work. Pablo Picasso is one of the artists I admire, and he said “God is really only another artist. God invented the giraffe, the elephant, and the cat. God has no real style, He (or she) just goes on trying other things.”
