Hoshen Series

2014 Exhibit

The “Hoshen” was a breastplate described in the bible worn by the high priest. The twelve gems described have been an endless source of discussion through the ages since they are named but not identified according to contemporary gemstones. Color, texture, pattern, and origin of such things can be so open to interpretation. It’s just the kind of challenge I like to give myself when working with color, pattern, and texture. These are samples from the series, more can be seen on request and there is a color booklet with the full series available for purchase ($20.00). Contact me at mcohen@mcn.org.
